Interested in being a Club Director?

Mill Creek 2025 Director Nominations are Open until January 20

Policy, planning, financial oversight, and direction for Mill Creek Rifle Club is overseen by a board of volunteer officers and directors elected by the membership. If you're interested in joining that leadership team, or if you know of a good candidate you'd like to recommend, the elections nominating committee is now accepting applications for four board positions.

As directed by the Club By Laws, triennial elections for a portion of the board of directors will be held at the annual meeting of the members of Mill Creek Rifle Club, at 7:30 p.m., March 4, 2025.

Those positions up for election at the March meeting will include:

  • Directors - Elected to 3-year terms
    • Membership director. This position is responsible for all applicant screening and processing of candidates for membership. The membership director will also be responsible for arranging or conducting all new member orientation classes and for collecting new member dues and fees.
    • Law enforcement liaison. This director is responsible for executing and maintaining contracts for use of the Law Enforcement ranges consistent with arrangements determined by the board. This includes overseeing range scheduling by the various law enforcement agencies under contract; billing those agencies for range use; providing copies of bills to the secretary; and keeping the board informed regarding Law Enforcement range schedule and usage.
    • Construction director. The construction director is responsible for securing the necessary labor and materials for range construction projects as approved by the Board and the membership. This includes obtaining bids as needed to price such projects and assuring that work is done at the best value. This position is also responsible for evaluating such work prior to payment.
    • Public relations director. This position is responsible for oversight of the club website and distribution of electronic communications following the president's approval and such other public relation tasks as may be recommended by the board. This position is not the club's spokesperson unless so designated by the president..

Note: The president, vice president, and treasurer are two-year terms and will be up for election again in 2026. The club secretary is a paid position, appointed by the board and not subject to election by the membership.

A nominating committee, consisting of the directors whose positions are not up for election during this cycle, will receive all nominations. The nominating committee consists of Legislative Director Paul Day, Safety Director Marco Tapia, Technology Director Kyle Gibson, and Maintenance Director Eric Sigg. Chair of the committee is Mr. Day.

Nominations must be received by the nominating committee no later than 6:30 p.m. January 20, 2025, in order to be placed on the ballot. Per the by-laws, no nominations will be accepted from the floor at the March 4 annual meeting. Nominations may be emailed to any of the nominating committee members specified above. Check the Board Contact Information page for email addresses.

Members in good standing interested in running for any of these positions should contact one of the nominating committee members immediately. Interested parties will be issued an informational questionnaire, which must be returned to a member of the nominating committee before the nominations deadline.

Board and director job descriptions may be found in the club’s by-laws. Additionally, board members are expected to attend regular monthly member and board meetings, participate in various committees, make reports and recommendations, account for income and expenditures, and meet the general responsibilities that come with serving an active club made up of nearly 2,000 members, with significant infrastructure to maintain and improve. Please bear in mind that each of these positions carries significant responsibilities, typically requiring a minimum of a few hours per week to fulfill the obligations of each post. Many officers and directors spend several hours to a few days every month engaged in club business.
