Will you be Ready When the Call Comes?
The time to learn a lifesaving skill is before you need it
Johnson County, Kansas, Med-Act ambulance service reports the average response time for its highest priority calls in Mill Creek Rifle Club's vicinity is 6 minutes and 18 seconds. The stated goal is to respond to 90 percent of those calls within 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, a child who is choking or an adult suffering a heart attach who is deprived of oxygen can begin to suffer irreversible brain damage after as little as 3 to 5 minutes, with more severe and permanent damage becoming likely after longer periods without oxygen. By 10 minutes, survival is doubtful and severe and permanent brain damage, such as a coma, is almost inevitable.
If you were the only person with that choking child or endangered adult, would you know what to do to save a life?
Through special arrangement with Lifesavers CPR Instructors and educational materials from the American Heart Association's Heartsaver CPR AED program, Mill Creek members and their immediate family members can join 20+ year veteran of the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department Chris White, in an intensive course on CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed First Aid.
