Get out and vote 2020

Get out and vote like your rights depend on it

By Paul Day, Legislative Director

On November 3, American citizens will go to the polls to participate in what will be a defining moment for our country. Although, as a non-profit organization Millcreek is prohibited from taking a formal position either for or against any particular candidate, the MCRC Board wants to encourage all of our members to participate in this historic election.

If you have not registered to vote, the Board encourages you to do so immediately so you can participate in the November 3 General Election.  The deadline to register to vote in Kansas so that you can participate in this election is Tuesday, October 13.  Click here to go to the Kansas Secretary of State website, where you can register to vote. Be sure to have your valid Kansas Driver's License or non-driver's ID card handy before you click. Registration takes less then 5 minutes.

Also, contrary to what you may have read in the media, the voting procedures in Kansas have not changed.  As in years past, a registered voter can vote in person at his or her designated polling place, vote in advance, and vote by mail.  Check with your local county voting office for details.

The following deadlines apply:
  • October 13 -  Last day to register to vote in the General Election on November 3.
  • October 14 - Advance voting in person and by mail begins.
  • October 27 -  Deadline for a voter to apply for an advance ballot by mail for the General Election.
  • November 3 - General Election.
  • November 6 - Deadline for receipt of advance ballots postmarked on or before election day.
